| Abstract This research aims at investigating Imam Husain 's ( peace be upon him) elegies at the period specified as such elegies have kept treating Arab affairs .Accordingly , this research falls into three sections : The first : The pscychological function which reflects the personal viewpoints of the poets in elegizing Imam Husain ( peace be upon him) . The second : The social and ethical function which expresses the poets ambitions in establishing a virtuous society . The third : The political function the effect of which is noticed in the poets attempts and their acquiring of the principles of Imam Husain' s revolution in not accepting injustice and appealing for nation s ' freedom . The research ends with proving that the Iraqi poets in their Imam Husain' s elegies start from inside the human being which is inseparable from the society reality in which the writer lives . The Iraqi poet, in the presence of Imam Husain ( peace be upon him) , expressed his sorrows and troubles stimulated by the pscychological , social , ethical and political factors. | ||
