A field study was conducted to study the distribution of some insects on ten cotton varieties at Rashedia Experimental Station / Nineveh during the season 2002. Results indicated the presence of four insects are; Cotton thrips, Thrips tabaci ( Lind.), Spiny Bollworm Earias insulana (Boisd.), Cotton Jassid, Empoasca spp. And Whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Genn.).The variety Cockar 310 was highly susceptible to infection by the four mentioned insects at rate 12.83, 2.41, 13.91 and 19.99 insect / plant respectively, then followed by the variety Nata.
Nazli cotton variety was the least susceptible to infection by the four insects at rates 0.49, 0.24, 0.23 and 4.41 insect / plant respectively, and it’s yield was the highest at average 841.90 kg / donem.
Other results showed all the three insecticides, Match®, Pegasos® and Evisect®s, significantly effect on the treated insects, compared to the control (untreated), but Evisect®s showed the highest insect mortality reached to 94.4 % and decreased the insect population densities to 53.16, 14.07, 17.2 and 13.2 times respectively, in which it reflects positively on yield. |
