| Abstract | ||
| This study aimed to shed light on al - Muhallab bin Abi Safra and narrations about him in one of most important source in islamic history. This book is al-tabari’s history which entitled as History of prophets and kings. Also, the study concentrated on al-Muhallab role during the Umayyad era, through three axes: first, his role until the death of the Yazid ibn Mu‘awiya; Second, his stand towards the movement of Ibn al -Zubayr; third, his resistance of some anti –statemovement,suchasthemovementofal -khawaraj(Alazariqa). in addition, the study will demonstrate how the expert and military efficiency of al - Muhallab ibn abi Safra helped him to overcome many obstacles and challenges he met throughout the course of his life,in a way that he drew attention of many leaders at that time. For example, he provided support to Ibn al - Zubayr for some time, then, to Abd al - Malik ibn Marwan, the Umayyad caliph, who was an opponent of ibn al - Zubayr. | ||
