| Abstract | ||
| In this article, we propose to obtain Bayesian and non-Bayesian estimators for the shape parameter of Maxwell distribution. We consider a class of informative priors, namely; inverted gamma prior information and inverted Chi square prior information. The Bayes estimators are obtained under two different loss functions; the squared error loss function and the modified squared error loss function. Based on a Monte Carlo simulation study, those estimators are compared to the corresponding maximum likelihood estimator. The performance of these estimators was numerically explored under different conditions. The comparison criteria are the mean square error MSE. Comparison shows that Bayes estimators of the shape parameter with the inverted Chi square prior have less MSE for small θ and hyper-parameter α. And the MSE of the maximum likelihood estimator was very close to the MSE of Bayesian estimators only under the squared error loss function. | ||
