Abstract
The revolution of the technology and the rapid spread in the world in this century and of the development of the means of communication and the Internet and satellite channels had influence in communication between the peoples of the world and to transform the world into a small global village linked by communications network and one via satellite, the power of the space media has grown, and increased competition among satellite channels to attract young people, through broadcasts of social programs , cultural , recreational and scientific multiple addressed to all segments of society, especially young people of different age stages. And in spite of what the contemporary world is witnessing the growing voices calling for the protection of the environment, but pollution and the depletion of environmental resources still constitute the main problems experienced by the environment and that should the man find solutions to them, and perhaps this approach is necessary to understand the prime location and high profile occupied by the media as one of the voices calling for the preservation of the environment and as the best method to reach all segments of society to be invited to the initiative of environmental protection and stop its pollution. And from here, and the researcher catches of the importance to the issue of environmental media and what he is doing in missions outreach and education and guidance in the field of environmental protection, comes this research to shed light on the role of television in spreading environmental awareness among university students. And the importance of this research comes from the importance of environmental awareness to preserve the natural and human resources and the role of environmental awareness in support of the development process and the importance of television job as a means of communication in spreading environmental awareness in the community, and the researcher used descriptive survey which allows scanning performance of the means of communication and message communication together, and in line with the requirements of the search, also the search uses newspaper questionnaire as a research means for the study of public and reconnaissance his views on the ground on the subject of the role of television in spreading environmental awareness by applying the search field on a sample of students of the College of media at the University of Baghdad, and the use of research methodology includes determination of all of the search community and its sample and the type and sources and the procedure of data collection and the design of questionnaire .
