| Abstract | ||
| The present study is a descriptive and analytical one which deals with the relationship between clauses in clause complexes in biological texts from the perspective of systemic functional grammar. It is hypothesized that communicative functions of clause conjuncts can be outlined via the assistance of clause conjuncts through the two systems: those of taxis and logical-semantic type which are effective tools to identify the feature behind a text. In order to test this hypothesis, (20) M.A. and Ph.D. students at the College of Science / Dept. of Biology were chosen. The results revealed that the findings can help to understand some features of the scientific texts which contribute a lot to the teaching and learning of English in English for science and technology. | ||
