| The aim of this research is to measure the knowledge level of rice growers inMishkhab district at Al-Najaf Governorate for the agricultural practices of Furat class 1, in addition to measure the knowledge level in all axes such as types of the agricultural practices of Furat class1, land preparation, seeds preparation and field sowing, fertilization, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting, and measure the relationship between knowledge level of rice growers to the agricultural practices of Furat class1and some of the independent factors (age, educational attainment, agriculture expertise, annual income, holding- size, and participation in extension activities. To reach the aims of this study, due to scientific sources and extension papers, a knowledge level test was developed for growers including 32 paragraphs distributed on 6 axes of the agricultural practices to the crop. Limits of scale were (0–32) degree, and 60 proportional random samples of growers were chosen, 25% of rice growers Furat class 1 inMishkhab district atAl-Najaf Governorate of 240 growers. Data have been collected by questionnaire and personal interview with rice growers Furat class 1. Data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, and person, Spearman Brown, Alfa Gronbach formula and t – test. Results showed that degrees of knowledge for rice growers were (9–27) an average (18. 25) and a standard deviation of (3.91). Their knowledge level was recognized as moderate. There was inequality in the knowledge level at main knowledge axes. The results also showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge level of growers and the independent factors (Educational attainment, agriculture expertise, annual income, and participation in extension activities), negative significant correlation founded between knowledge level and age and non-significant correlation founded between their level of knowledge and holding-size . The researcher recommends to work on the distribution of Furat Class 1 seeding, throughout focusing an the extension activities related to agricultural practices for this class represented in extension bulletins, programs radio and television and demonstration fields...... etc. with the need to provide technical support to give objective and integrated beam guidance relating to agricultural practices for Furat class 1. Increasing the confidence of growers to the role of the agriculture extension system of countryside via direct contact with growers, and setting up specialized training course in this field in a form which contributes to improve and develop the level of knowledge with financial support of yield price which regarded as main encouragement to the growers to adapting this new technology. |
