| Abstract | ||
| The present study is to evaluate the effect of Subconjunctival injection of Bevacizumab (avastin) on the outcome of surgical treatment of pterygium in Nassiriya city. Prospective ,randomized, comparative clinical study was conducted on thirty eyes of thirty patients complaining of primary pterygium of variable duration that were recruited from outpatient clinic of ophthalmologyical department of Habobi Teaching hospital in the period between August 2014 and January 2016. No statistically significant results were found in the most of compared items in the different time points. but in group A the mean time of recurrence was 4.25 month compared to group B where the mean time of recurrence was 2.4 month and this was a statistically significant difference among the 2 groups.The use of bevacizumab seems to be a safe and effective mean for delaying the time of recurrence of primary pterygium but it did not prevent recurrence. | ||
