Abstract
An experiment was conducted in a nursery of Agriculture Faculty / University of Kufa during the growing season of 2012-2013 to study the effect of concentrations and spraying of glycyrrhizin extract on growth and flowering parameters of Tagetes erecta(marigold).Complete Randomized Block Design (R.C.B.D) was used for the experiment design with three replications and two factor first treatment was three concentrations of glycyrrhizin extract (0 , 2.5 and 5) gm.L-1 and second factor was spraying times with (1 , 2 and 3)and their interaction, mean were compared at Least Significant Differences Test ( L. S. D.) on probability level 0.05. The results showed that treatment with concentration spraying 5 gm.L-1of glycyrrhizin extract significantly exceeded the vegetative growth parameters also the integrated between two factors in this experiment in (5 gm.L-1) concentration of glycyrrhizin extract with two time of spaying was significantly effected all growth parameters (plant height , branches number , soluble total carbohydrate , chlorophyll leaves content ,flowers number , flower diameter and stem flowering) which were (38.87cm , 13.33 branch. Plant-1 , 29.203 mg.100g.freshweigh , 4.1367% , 7.00 flower. Plant-1 , 7.233cm , 6.300cm) compared with distilled water spring plants that gave lower values( 31.10cm , 7.67 branch. Plant-1 , 24.247 mg.100g. weight fresh-1 , 1.1300% , 3.33 flower. Plant-1, 3.200cm , 4.167cm ) respectively.
