Abstract
Field experiment was conducted to study some vegetative and flowering parameters for four varieties of Zea mays in Al-wtafiya region/Alskandaria district / 35 km north of Babylon province, during spring and autumn season of 2014, the varieties were (Espani , 5018 , Hollandy , and 5012) , applied in RCBD with 3 replication . The spring season results noted that the variety 5018 gave shorter period from emergence to 75% male and female flowering (49.30 and 55.30 days respectively), higher plant height (208.40 cm) , higher stem diameter(22.9 mm) , while the variety Hollandy gave high value of leaf area (0.5498 m2) and 5012 gave high value in cone high (116.87 cm). In autumn season 5018 gave shorter period from emergence to 75% male and female flowering , high value of plant height , leaf area , stem diameter (53.10, 55.60 days, 210.30 cm, 0.5302 m2 , and 20.9 mm respectively) , while Hollandy variety gave high value in cone high (112.65cm).
