| Abstract | ||
| Objective of the study is to identify the marital status of the population in the province of Maysan, according to four categories (married and unmarried and divorced and widowed) and highlight the geographical variation, and then seek to be understood and interpreted, depending on the population census of 1987 and 1997 data as well as the vital statistics of marriage, divorce, widowhood, and can say that the Marital Status They are marked by uncertainty linked to the economic and social conditions of the community, in addition to the traditions and customs prevailing in this society. The study revealed some important facts and spatial variation between the administrative units in the province of Maysan, the proportion of singles make up a large percentage, as well as the rise in crude marriage rate, in addition to the decline in the divorce rate for males, and the high divorce rate for females, as well as decreased the proportion of divorced in the countryside of the province. | ||
