Abstract
For thousands of years, palm cultivation is one of the oldest plantations in the world , specifically, in the land of Mesopotamia. It constitutes about one third of Iraq's economy in the past. In fact, Iraq relies on oil industry as a main resource for its economy, secondly agriculture, and thirdly industrial sector . However, later in 2001, it has been thought that tourism can be invested as it effectively promotes economy by directing efforts towards the development of this sector like many countries which are known for their complete reliance on tourist imports which are approximately estimated at (7% - 9 %). The concept of Rural Tourism is obviously absent in Iraqi society, in general, and in Karbala community , in particular. Karbala has some wonderful sceneries and sights which present tranquility, spiritual peace, serenity, comfort, and recreation; away from the hustle of the city. Accordingly, the countryside can be transformed into a range for the activation of Agri-Tourism, Leisure Tourism, and Aquatic Tourism as well. Because of these qualifications that are found near streams, the tourists enjoy their time and have fun where they can roam across canoes and a small boat that is called (almashahav). It is also possible to encourage river fishing besides Hunting tourism , including, bird hunting. Moreover, roads are made for linking orchards and facilitating transport , consequently, the costs of projects and even the traffic jams will be reduced , especially, on the days of million visitors in this holy city. Many of these orchards are considered to be useful for they preserve the natural and national treasures that help the development of several agricultural businesses, tourist economics, and cultural customs. Such places also help publish economic and local community traditions, in addition to raise the cultural consciousness where a direct contact is made with the tourist and the visitor to these areas. So, they end with increasing the economic and cultural value of the country as a whole. The research has concluded that taking a model of a small mill project to produce molasses will be helpful for calculating the processes of production and consumption besides the marketing of goods that are made of palm trees, which are regarded as one of many basic valuable nourishment materials for man, not to mention that Iraqi dates are looked at as a competitor for the rest of all types of dates, both globally and in the Arab world.
