| Abstract | ||
| A study was conducted on the effect of sodium chloride in germination , chemical and ionic contents of pepper plant ( Capiscum annuum L.) that are included different concentrations of salts ( 50 , 100 , 150 and 200 ) mmol / l , in addition to distill water as a control , on the percentage of germination and the concentrations of proteins , proline , carbohydrates , plant pigments ( chlorophyll a , b , total and carotene ) , the percentage of water content , dry matter and the concentrations of some ions in the shoot system. The results were showed that , the increases of salinity concentration causes a decrease in the percentage of germination , the concentration of plant pigments ( chlorophyll a , b , total and carotene ) , the percentage of water content , dry matter and potassium ion , whereas an increase on the concentration of protein , proline and carbohydrates , sodium and chloride ions . A different significant differences were observed on the studied properties of the plant at all the different salinity treatments . | ||
