| Abstract | ||
| Abstract The present study deals with the absence of the main syntactic elements: the tense marker, modal auxiliary and the frequent lack of a subject and a subordinating conjunction or the lack of the referential link with a nominal which can be discovered in the area of its linguistic context. These characteristics lead to divide the non-finite clauses into specific types which carry different functions. It is hypothesized that infinitive clauses, -ing clauses and ed- clauses together with the absent elements could be recognized throughout the structure of the main clauses and their contexts. They are considered to be the mirror that reflects the absence of such elements. This would be firstly studied syntactically in terms of the syntactic analysis of their structures in accordance with the linguistic literature of the finite clauses to recognize these types. Then, semantically, by showing their semantic ties and functions that wave the texture of the non-finite clauses with those of the main clauses as essential elements. Practically the present study would be done in terms of the analysis of the UN resolutions, three resolutions would be depended, for the years 2009,2010, and 2011. One for each to show how do the non-finite clauses function and help build such rules in such prestigious formal register. The assessment would prove that fully communication goes on by avoiding the ambiguity that might happen. Moreover, to recognize the subject of the main clause and its context which lead to pave the way to the agent of the non-finite clause or an indefinite subject. Thus, the control would be achieved by understanding such clauses in general, and to interpret and avoid falling into the problem of ill-interpretation of the users: both the readers and the listeners of such register, in particular. | ||
