| A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of organic and chemical fertilization on growth and yield of corn (Zea mays L.) in a gypsiferous soil using organic fertilizer (compost) at levels (0, 4, 8) ton.ha-1 and two sources of phosphorus as superphosphate and fine rock phosphate at levels (0, 42, 84) Kg P.ha-1 with urea fertilizer source of nitrogen at levels (0, 92, 184) Kg N.ha-1. Which represent (zero, half-recommended dose, complete recommended dose) for N and P. Potassium sulphate fertilizer was applied for all treatments at one level of (120) Kgm K2O.ha-1. The experiment conducted using (RCBD) with three replicates. Means were tested using L.S.D at 0.05. Results showed that phosphorus fertilization either with superphosphate or rock phosphate with urea gave a significant increase in all studied characteristics as compared with non-fertilized treatment. The organic fertilization gave a significant increase in all growth parameters (plant height, leaf area, chlorophyll content, yield and its contents and nutrients uptake N, P, K, Fe, and Zn). The addition of (8) ton. ha-1 gave the highest grain yield (6.613) ton. ha-1. The interaction between organic and chemical fertilization with both sources showed a significant increases in all vegetative growth characteristics, yield and nutrient uptake (N, P, K). The treatment of organic (8) ton.ha-1 with half recommended dose of superphosphate exhibited the highest mean value of chemical fertilizer using efficiency (16.27) Kg grain for each one kilogram chemical fertilizer applied. | ||
