There have been many academic studies on the subject of France's relations with the Arab countries, but Lebanon's relations with France have not been highlighted until now, especially in the post-independence phase of 1946, despite the importance of the subject that France has long historical relations with Lebanon For many centuries, the 1950s and 1960s witnessed the beginning of new penetration and the building of relations with the two countries. The presence of the Maronite Christians in Lebanon had the greatest impact on the restoration and development of relations between the two countries, especially after the arrival of the French President Charles de Gaulle in 1958.
Therefore, this study highlights the relations between the two sides and the bases upon which they were based and the circumstances of their establishment, development and sustainability, and the events, conflicts and political, economic and cultural transformations witnessed in the relations between the two countries.
The study was divided into two main topics. The first dealt with the internal political developments in Lebanon (1958-1964), which witnessed a clear turbulence that had the greatest impact on Lebanon heading to France, which in that period became the only country that has no ambitions in Lebanon and wants to preserve On security and stability in light of the apparent international conflict between the United States and Britain on the one hand and the Soviet Union on the other.
The second section highlighted the role of France in the economic and cultural developments witnessed by Lebanon during the same period, which was embodied in the events of a comprehensive economic revolution, which had the largest role in France, which contributed to tackling the economic crisis suffocating Lebanon during that period, Cultural relations between the two sides and strive to develop them through French schools, institutes and programs in Lebanon.
The study enriched a number of Arab and Arab sources as well as the Lebanese and Arab newspapers and some foreign reports and documents that dealt with this period, which had the most profound impact on reaching these relations and the bases of their development.
