The nineteenth century was disguised by two features : historical and comparative .The aim of language studies at that time was to search for the origin of languages and explain the connections among them to arrive at the rules of pronunciation , morphology and syntax. The concern was to classify languages into families from which modern languages are derived. Then according to the findings given by the empirical studies , linguistics appeared as a starting step which paved the way to the scientific and objective description which was the key to modernism.
The study explains the concept of semiology and its main principles according to De Saussure .Semiology as an autonomous science did not come out of the blue , but it the European Semiology was based on various sciences, such as aesthetics, logic, mathematics , language , etc. , which in turn has made other sciences , such as art , translation and languages to depend on linguistics or linguistic evidence , from which sprang sciences of music , anthropology , therapy , in addition to other sciences of media and communication |
