| Arabs were opened to other civilizations during the period of pre-Islam , Islam and post-Islam, in particular in the issue of language and culture borrowing from the civilizations that preceded them or came in contact with.For example, they borrowed from Semitic languages including Aramaic and Syriac, as well as Persian,and Greek.This demonstrates the strength of culture in quantity and content of the pre-Islamic period. Arabs were in need for such extraneous words .Therefore,this process could cause the growth of Arabic language and diversity of its sources . Native speakers of Arabic before Islam were worried of such an intruder, for fear of confusion with what is regarded as Arabic in origin. Desiring correctness in their language, they made modifications to many words to suit the nature of their Arabic pronunciation as well as the original word. Most of borrowed words were taken by Arabs from two languages Farsi and Syriac because of their neighboring to the Persian, and to the Syriac or Greek Byzantine civilizations. Due to their long contact with the Persians, the amount of the borrowed words from them exceeded that of the Syriac of the Levant. We can conclude from this study the following: 1- Arabs knew Arabization borrowing since ancient times starting from the pre-Islamic era through thier mixing with Persians to express their different needs and their intentions in an obvious Arabic manner. 2. Frequent use of Persian words occurred in the pre-Islamic poets and beyond. Their occurrence did not happen by chance , not for the purpose of obscuration or being flaunt, but they were affected by such a language because they were near to Persia . In addition, Arabs had different relationships and links with the non-Arabic environment. 3.The opinion which supports the existence of borrowing in Qura’n is confirmed. Therefore, there is no room for the different views concerning the occurrence of Arabization in Qura’n. Qura’n does not have non-Arabic words, and if they occur , they happen to carry the Arabic form. 4. The Persian influence was obvious in Arabic.However,this borrowing did not constitute a large proportion if it is compared with the enormous and unlimited quantity of words of Arabic origin, and it does not pose a threat to the correctness of Arabic because Arabs have modified the form and structure of these words . | ||
