Abstract
Inflation is one of the most important economic problems that have infected the economies of many developed and developing countries .the inflation is known that continues to rise in the general level of prices and that this increase leads to the effects of economic, social and political bad hence, objective of dealing with inflation and to maintain price stability is one of the fundamental objectives which countries are trying to achieve. Since that Iraq from developing countries that have suffered from this problem era of time so have been identified under study (the acceleration of inflation in Iraq) where the study aims to identify the phenomenon of inflation and analysis of rates and factors affecting them during the period (1991 -2012), divided into two distinct periods were (1991-2002) and (2003-2012) The study presents a set of conclusions was the most important high inflation during the first period dramatically and inflation turning to what is known This is due to the large health in commodity supply due to imposed economic sanctions during that period and to increase government spending is programmed as it was to the limited hard currency sources a major role in lifting commodity prices . inflation rates in the second period and specifically after the year 2006 marked decline and shift of inflation to what is known inflation has been creeping monetary policy of the Central Bank of Iraq played a major role in that through the intervention of the bank in the foreign exchange market in order to achieve in the Iraqi dinar exchange rate against foreign currencies. In light of these findings the study provided a set of recommendations was the most important, the need to rationalize government spending and activating the productive sectors and to promote the positive role of the Central Bank of Iraq to maintain the stability of the Iraqi dinar exchange rate and stabilize the prices of goods and services.
