| Abstract | ||
| In this work, the absorption and fluorescence spectra for (9, 10-Diphenylanthracene) compound dissolved in polar solvents and non-polar solvents were measured and investigated .The quantum yield and life time were calculated. Diluted solutions were used to eliminate the effect of self-absorption. The solvents which were used to dissolve DPA are (cyclohexane, 1, 4-Dioxane, benzene, ethanol, and dimethylsulfoxide) with dielectric constants (2.02, 2.21, 2.27, 24.3, 47.2) respectively. The results showed that the quantum yield decreased with increased of solvent polarity, also showed increasing in the radiative lifetime with increasing of solvent polarity. Also a shift in the fluorescence spectra toward long wavelength region (red shift) and decreased the intensity with increase of the polar solvents had been noticed. The rate parameter of radiative (KFM), non-radiative (KIM) and stoke shift was calculated. In this research anthracene in ethanol used as standard compound to calculate quantum yield at room temperature. | ||
