| The research unveils the concept Horizons of Expectation originated from Hans Robert Jauss.He and his countryman , Wolfgang Iser , were notable for the reception theory which was founded in German Constance School. This concept emphasizes that the meaning of a text is not inherent within the text itself, but is created by the relationship between the text and the reader, that is on the text-reader relationship. The text remains incomplete without the reader. The study has founded three types of horizons of expectation in Fatimah Al – Zahra’s sermon: social , objective , and stylistic . The tendency of shattering the horizons of expectation is notably clear in this sermon through the technique of putting first and putting last , while it is not much clear in the technique of omission and inclusion. | ||
