| Abstract | ||
| This experimental study aimed at examining the usefulness of adopting smart phones in education to develop the learners' proficiency in English language. The study sample consists of (70) female students studying at Al-Ma'aley Secondary School during the first semester of the academic year 2016-2017. The randomly chosen sample was divided into two groups: Group (A) consisted of 35 students as an experimental group, and group (B) consisted of 35 students as a control group. Data were collected within eight weeks via a pre-post test design for the equivalent groups. An equivalent achievement test, developed by the researcher, was applied to the control and experimental groups before the study started to ensure their equivalence; and was also used as a post-test. The results of the post-test revealed significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and the mean scores of the control group in favor of the experimental group. The results of the study also showed that using smart phones in education was an appropriate technology to develop the learners' proficiency in English language. | ||
