| Abstract 'Al-Arbaiyniyah' visit to Imam Al-Hussein's holy shrine is part of the Shiite heritage and it became a habit as well as a tradition. The biography of 'Ashuraa' and the symbolic funeral traditions are now present in all religious occasions and are represented by visiting Imam Al-Hussein every forty days after his martyrdom anniversary as a message of the spiritual connection between people and the Prophet Mohammed and his family (peace be upon them). The Shiite Imams' speeches confirm the importance of this visit as a 'Husseiniyate' tradition which sheds light on the reality of the eternal conflict between the right and the untrue. This visit also represents the identity of the nation reflecting the real belonging to the brilliant school of Islam. It is thus a resurrection of the message of the Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) who says: 'Hussein is from me and I am from Hussein' and to that path of struggle which was then followed by the Imams of the Prophet's family. Furthermore, it is considered a hard test in terms of commemoration and fighting for its revival.This research studies the historic path of 'Al-Arbaiyniyah' visit; its emergence and development and what have been associated with it in terms of traditions and rituals. It also explains the significance of these traditions and their social and political effects on the individual and the society as well.God dictates this tradition as a spiritual uprising of martyrs within a period of forty days; from the 10th of Moharram to the 20th of Sufar (Hijri months). It is the period which starts with the anniversary of Imam Al-Hussein's martyrdom and the captivity of his family who had been taken to the city of Kufa then to Damascus and then returned to Karbala in a long trip which lasted forty days. This research starts with an introduction followed by three chapters and ends with a conclusion. The first chapter reviews historically the evidence which confirm the significance of this visit by citing what the Imams of Shiite (peace be upon them) mentioned and called for. The second chapter remarks the evolution of the traditions that are performed during this visit. In chapter three, the researcher sheds light on the most important social consequences of 'Al-Arbaiyniyah' visit and the continuity of the traditions till the present time as well as the role of the community of Karbala and the social solidarity that have been achieved so far. | ||
