| Abstract | ||
| Abstract This study shows that the trade of the province of Karbala during the years 1910 – 1911 was limited due to the small population of the town on one hand and the location far away from the Tigris, the passage of trade, from the other hand. These two reasons deprived Karbala from the advantage of direct trade with the outside world. However, what had increased the prosperity of trade is the existence of the holy religious shrines in both Karbala and Najaf since many visitors come yearly. The second factor is that Karbala has borders close to the Arabian Peninsula where many convoys go to and come from Najaf, Hail and Qaseem (in Saudia Arabia). The business was limited to exporting animal and agricultural products and importing, in return, consuming products, manufactured goods and minerals. | ||
