| Abstract The importance of regional planning has clearly increased in today’s world as a method which cares for the spatial dimension of the development process, and for the redistribution of population, wealth, and investment that will ensure the achievement of balanced social development in different regions, as well as to ensure appropriate orientations towards the desired future for each country. This study is about the city of Ein Al-Tamur in Karbala as a sample that can be useful in designing the other desert cities. It falls into two sections; the first section is a theoretical background of the most important factors influencing the planning of the desert cities of hot climate as well as the most important planning considerations and actions followed. The second section is a field study of the city of Ein Al-Tamur to explain how the land is used according to the limits of the foundation design of the city, and to evaluate these uses in accordance with specific standards of planning and actions compared to the housing standards in Iraq. The research ends with a number of conclusions and recommendations that may be useful for developing this type of cities. | ||
