Abstract
Abstract: For the family and its safety, a great importance in society which is not only bulid on marry. There have been social transformations on the society of Basra which contributed in one form or another in effecting on increased divorce in this particular society within the last years. The aim of this research is to know the social changes affecting in increasing divorce cases as well as the extent of their variability among the administrative units for 2013. The study sample was (534) cases where applied to their answers some statistical methods to see how much effect the social characteristics on divorce cases that occurred between them, these characteristics were studied across several variables (Educational Status, the method of marriage, housing status), The results of the study showed that, there is a correlation between these variables of high or low divorce cases in the province of Basra. Accordingly, for the purpose of reducing this phenomenon must activate the role of the government, the government institutions, the humanitarian organizations and the civil society organizations to solve many problems which are exposed to the family especially in solving the problem of unemployment and providing adequate housing for married couples, as well as in educating the community in how important the family is and importance of built it correctly.
