The research aims to identify the Summer vegetables peasants' attitudes towards using Drip irrigation technology in Hawija province/Kirkuk governorate, to find the significant differences in the peasants' attitudes according to some personal, socio-economical and communicational factors. The research consisted of ( 300 ) peasants' which are representing ( 10%) of the total number of the peasants' Agricultural cooperative societies members at Hawija Section / Kirkuk governorate.
A questionnaire was prepared consisting of two parts, the first of which included some variables related to agriculture (age, standard of living, readiness for change, openness to civilization, exposure to information sources). The second part (65) includes a statement expressing the direction of the farmers towards drip irrigation technology.
Data collected through the personal interview then treated statistically by using statistic means such as ( Mode , Percentage , Pearson and Spearman law , t-test and Path analysis. The results showed that ( 63,6% ) of peasants' have positive attitudes towards using Drip irrigation technology , ( 6,7 % ) of them have medium attitudes , and ( 29,7% ) of them have negative attitudes towards using this technology.
The results showed a significant correlation between the tendency of farmers to use drip irrigation system according to the variables (age, social participation, standard of living, readiness for change, openness of civilization, and level of exposure to information sources). The researcher recommends increasing the extension efforts of agricultural extension workers and carrying out similar research in other areas to find out the factors affecting the adoption of modern technologies by farmers. |
