Abstract
The nineteen twentieth revolution is considered the most prominent happening in the contemporary Iraqi history . It can be said that its happenings constitute , to a great extent , a stage standing by itself ; it is also considered a motive and a starting point for a new stage , especially that the results of its happening has clearly had an effect on the intellectual and political life in Iraq . Accordingly , the revolution gained a great concern of a great number of the researchers in Iraq and abroad . One might find a great number of studies which tackled different sides of the subject; however there is still much of the revolution that need further study and investigation . The present study ( The Karbala And Its Impact On The Nineteen Twentieth Revolution) is considered of a special significance due citizens and Karbala tribes in the preparation for the revolution and also for urging the middle Euphrates tribes for the revolution to the rest of the Iraq cities and enlisting and mobilizing people against the British Occupation . The present research showed the role of the native movement in Karbala for the period ( 1918 – 1920) showing the geographical position of the city with its importance and impact . This was followed by studying the administration of Karbala number the Ottoman reign and occupation showing the people of Karbala stands and attiudes towards the referendum of 1918- 1919 . The Iraqi affair ( matter) on both , the role of Karbala in the leadership of the native movement in Iraq proceeding to the nineteen twentieth revolution was then showed . The problem the holy Karbala had the first pioneering role in initiating and setting out the native Iraqi movement between 1918- 1920 . Besides its national activety role led to nineteen twentieth revolution and to the establishment of the contemporary Iraq . The present research depended on a number of documentional sources , some memorials , theses and dissertations and some researchers .
