| Abstract | ||
| A Field experiment was carried out during summer season 2013 in the extension station at AL-Kut / Wasit government ( 180 km south Baghdad ) to study of role of planting geometric (The difference of distance between rows and beds plant ) of two sunflower cultivars on weed competition and seeds yield of sunflower . Randomized complete block design with split plot arrangement was used with four replications. Asgaro and flamy cultivars were distributed as main plots, while planting geometric as the sub-plots. The planting geometric included 70x20, 60x25 and 50x30 cm. The results showed that high reduction of weed density and weed biomass appeared with Asgaro cultivar. This reduction has reflected on increasing seed yield of Asgaro cultivar (3.14 t /ha) as comparison with 1.75 t/ha of flamy cultivar. Competition ability of Asgaro cultivar was related with plant height and leaf area compared with flamy cultivar. Planting geometric by 50x30 cm was significant effect of enhancement competition ability of Asgaro cultivar to the weed and increase its yield (3.77 t/ha) and its harvest index (39.2) compared with flamy cultivar by the same distance (1.92 t /ha to yield and 22.9 to harvest index ). From this study, we are conclude the selection of competition cultivar with suitable planting geometric can be enhance from weed control and shorting herbicides use and increase the yield of sunflower. | ||
