| Abstract | ||
| sing the satellite data (Landsat_7) and using visual interpretation and improved visualization, the hybrid classification method was used as an integrative approach combining remote sensing techniques and geographic information systems in the classification of land cover in Maysan Governorate. This type of classification was applied using Erdas v.14 and ArcMap v.10.2.1. The study showed the effectiveness of hybrid classification in the classification of land cover and land use in the study area. The results of the survey showed that the total land area is 84.3235% of the total area of Maysan Governorate. The agricultural land category ranked second with 9.1054%, the wetlands ranked third with 4.3298% (1.4016%) and (0.8398%) of the total area of the study area.
