Abstract
This study aims to identify the following:
1- The cognitive control among university students.
2- The academic self-efficacy among the university students.
3- The correlation between cognitive control and the academic self-efficacy among the university students.
4- The differences in the correlation relationship between the cognitive control and the academic self-efficacy according to the gender variable (males and females).
The limits of research were limited to Anbar University students who are enrolling in the morning studies only in the following colleges: Engineering, Pure Sciences, Education for Humanities and Arts) for the academic year (2022-2023), as the total research population reached (19979) male and female students, the research sample consisted of (160) male and female students selected by a simple random method, and the researcher used the descriptive approach (correlational relations) as the appropriate approach to his research objectives.
To achieve the aims of the study, the researcher adopted Al-Shaalan (2019) scale for the validity of its items and appropriate to the aims of the study, where the cognitive control scale in its final form consisted of (35) items with quinquennial alternatives, while the academic self-efficacy scale in its final form consisted of (34) items with quinquennial alternatives, which was prepared by the researcher for the purposes of his research according to the theory of (Pandua, 1998), and after applying the two tools to the study sample, and data analysis by using appropriate statistical means, After applying the study scales to the sample members, the results revealed the following:
