Impact of Healthy Eating and Physical Activity on Overweight/ Obese Males and Relation with Some Hormone Levels
The purpose of the study was to compare the efficiency of healthy lifestyle interferences in reducing weight gain risk. The study was a controlled experiment done from 2023 to 2424, in which three groups of males were selected. The study conducted at the Maternity and Children Teaching Hospital in Ramadi city/Iraq. The study including 90 males: 60 with body mass index more than 25, while 30 with body mass index less than 25. The healthy lifestyle was applied to overweight and obese participants for a period of four weeks. Anthropometric measurements involved body mass index, waist circumference and fat percentage were measured by a special formula. Leptin, testosterone, cortisol and growth hormone concentration in serum were measured for all individuals in the study. There was a significant increase in the body mass index, waist circumference, Fat percentage and concentration of cortisol and leptin hormone, while there was decrease in testosterone and growth hormone concentration in overweight and obese males than to normal weight males before applying the health lifestyle. Whereas, there was decrease in BMI Fat, WC, leptin, cortisol concentration, and increase in testosterone and growth hormone concentration, Also, the concentrations of GH after 60 minutes of and after 90 minutes of stimulation with clonidine (GH3) in overweight and obese males were increase in compared to their results before applying healthy lifestyle. The combined Healthy eating and physical activity intervention was able to limit weight gain and Improving hormonal results more positively. Thus, lifestyle changes are improving overall health
