Abstract
The protection of human rights is a fundamental aspect of contemporary international laws and practices. The commitment of host states to investment in these rights is vital for building a sustainable and fair investment environment. In the context of economic globalization, countries strive to attract foreign investments by signing international investment agreements, which raises questions about the impact of these agreements on human rights. While they may enhance economic development, concerns arise regarding workers' rights, the environment, and local communities. Thus, it is essential to examine the influence of foreign investment agreements on human rights, determine the obligations of host states in protecting these rights, and explore legal means to balance human rights and investment requirements. Ultimately, we conclude that protecting human rights within the framework of foreign investment agreements requires host states to enforce human rights laws and implement international labor standards. Achieving a balance can be accomplished by including clear provisions in the agreements that promote workers' rights and protect the environment, along with strengthening the role of civil society in oversight and accountability, which contributes to ensuring compliance with human rights and creating a sustainable and fair investment environment.
