Abstract
Abstract The research deals with the conditions of the Circassian immigrants who were forced to leave their country in the northwestern Caucasus and head towards the lands of the Ottoman Empire during the period (1859-1878 AD) after the Russian forces occupied their lands and forced them to immigrate to the Ottoman lands and agreed with the Ottoman side to receive them. The research explains the great suffering and tragedies that were exposed to them. It has Circassians, whether during the migration phase or after their arrival in Ottoman lands, as hundreds of thousands of them died as a result of hunger and the spread of diseases and epidemics among them. The research also showed the numbers of immigrants, the Ottoman Empire’s motives for receiving them, and its policy of resettling them in a way that suits its interests.
