Abstract
India is one of the active and influential regional countries in South Asia. This power stems from a set of components that qualify it to play an active and influential regional role. The demographic, economic and technological components are among the most influential components in giving India a prestigious position in the regional arena. Despite this position and the role it plays in the regional arena, it suffers from a set of internal and external challenges that constitute a weakness for the decision-maker in exercising a regional role, especially internal problems represented by poverty, backwardness, illiteracy and corruption. On the external level, they are represented by border conflicts with neighboring countries, in addition to the Chinese rise, which poses a real threat to the Indian rise in the region. In line with the study's problem, hypothesis, and scientific requirements, this research uses the descriptive and analytical approach to describe and analyze the Indian role in the South Asian region.
