Abstract
The relationship between economic policies and violent extremism is complex and multidimensional, as economic factors play a pivotal role in shaping the environment that may either fuel or curb extremism. Economic policies that combat corruption, promote economic justice, create job opportunities, and improve public services can reduce the appeal of extremist ideologies. Conversely, policies that deepen corruption, poverty, and inequality can create a fertile ground for extremism. Therefore, economic policies should be an integral part of a comprehensive strategy to counter violent extremism. The research is based on the hypothesis that there is a positive correlation between economic policies and violent extremism. The more effective and comprehensive economic policies are in Iraq, the more they can contribute significantly to reducing violent extremism by providing job opportunities, improving the standard of living, and promoting social justice. This, in turn, reduces the economic and social drivers that fuel violent extremism, and vice versa.
The research includes an introduction, a conclusion, and three chapters. The first chapter discusses economic policies in Iraq after 2003, while the second chapter addresses the challenges of economic policies in reducing violent extremism. The third chapter addresses the components of economic policies in reducing violent extremism.
