Abstract
Abstract: The credit for crystallizing the concept of soft power goes to American political science professor Joseph Nye at the end of the last century. Before passed away, Nye emphasized the influence of American soft power around the world. However, before his passing last May, in his final article published on the website of PS Quarterly: Post Americana magazine, titled "The Future of American Soft Power," published in June 2025, he warned of the repercussions of US President Donald Trump's policies, including the slowdown in American soft power and China's attempts to develop its soft power around the world. This, he argued, was despite the challenges facing the rise of Chinese soft power due to its border issues and the policies of the ruling party. At the same time, he indicated that the risks surrounding American soft power could be mitigated if Trump reversed his policies, which are based on weakening trust among US allies, strengthening his imperial ambitions, and reducing aid budgets. as these actions would set Trump up against China's rising power, However, he stated that this would be costly and difficult to quickly restore trust, according to the author of the article. Accordingly, this review aims to understand the challenges and opportunities facing the future of American soft power. The researcher will focus on reviewing this paper, titled "The Future of American Soft Power," and will be divided into an abstract and introduction, followed by a review of the article and sources.
