Abstract
The research deals with the phenomenon of proxy wars and their role as a strategic tool to achieve the goals and interests of major powers at the regional and international levels, by using agents to manage their conflicts without the need for direct military intervention, Major countries such as the United States and Russia have deemed the use of proxy warfare a more successful alternative to direct wars, which are excessively costly in terms of both material and human resources, especially in light of the developments witnessed in the international conflict arena, The research seeks to understand the mechanisms by which major powers employ regional and local factions to achieve their political, economic, and military objectives, as well as the future of these wars, both in terms of development and decline, in light of the tremendous technical and technological developments, particularly in the field of weapons. The research was divided into three sections. The first section was devoted to a conceptual framework, the second section was devoted to studying major powers and the applications of proxy wars, while the last section included a study of the future prospects of proxy wars, in addition to the conclusion and findings.
