Abstract
This study aimed to develop and standardize a leadership ability scale for physical education teachers in secondary schools in Nineveh Governorate, as perceived by school administrations. The research adopted a descriptive survey approach, and the sample consisted of 160 school administrators, including principals and assistant principals, selected to represent the study population. A questionnaire was designed as the main data collection tool, drawing on previous studies and relevant theoretical frameworks in educational leadership. The initial version of the scale was reviewed by a panel of experts to ensure content validity, and necessary modifications were made based on their feedback. Subsequently, appropriate statistical procedures were applied to verify the psychometric properties of the scale, including validity and reliability. The final version of the scale comprised five key dimensions: objectivity, flexibility, understanding others, use of authority, and knowledge of communication principles. These dimensions were represented by a total of 40 items, structured according to a Likert-type scale. The results indicated that the developed scale possesses acceptable levels of validity and reliability, confirming its suitability for measuring leadership abilities among physical education teachers. The study recommended the adoption of the scale in future research and its application across different educational stages, including primary, intermediate, and secondary schools. Moreover, the scale can be utilized in similar Arab educational contexts, particularly within Iraqi governorates, due to its adaptability and standardization.
