Abstract
Iraqi Turkmen literature represents a continuous literary tradition extending from the past to the present. Among contemporary Iraqi Turkmen poets, Kara Vahap occupies a distinguished position for using poetry as a means of addressing society and expressing collective experiences. Born in Kirkuk, Kara Vahap has published his poems in different periods, later compiling them into two volumes, which constitute the main focus of this study. This research examines the reflections of oppression and persecution experienced by Iraqi Turkmens as depicted in the poet’s works written in Turkey Turkish. Through his poetry, Kara Vahap conveys the historical suffering, social struggles, and cultural identity of the Turkmen people, aiming to instill a sense of homeland consciousness in future generations. In addition, the study explores aspects of Turkmen history and highlights their social, economic, political, and literary relations, emphasizing the role of poetry as both a cultural memory and a form of resistance.
