Abstract
The use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs) or Helicobacter pylori infection are the main causes of peptic ulcers, a serious gastrointestinal condition. The main distinctions between NSAID-induced ulcers and H. pylori-related ulcers in terms of etiology, clinical presentation, pathophysiology, therapy, and recurrence risk are highlighted in this review. While NSAID-induced ulcers result from suppression of prostaglandin synthesis and direct mucosal injury, H. pylori-associated ulcers are caused by a persistent bacterial infection that leads to mucosal inflammation and increased acid output. Clinically, NSAID-related ulcers may go unnoticed until complications arise, whereas H. pylori ulcers are frequently symptomatic. Laboratory testing, endoscopic examination, and patient history are examples of diagnostic techniques. Treatment approaches for NSAID-induced ulcers center on stopping the offending medication, and acid suppression on the other word, H. pylori ulcers require eradication therapy. A precise diagnosis based on patient history, laboratory tests, and endoscopy is essential for appropriate management and prevention of complications.
