Abstract
Documentation constitutes a fundamental pillar in uncovering the crime of genocide committed by ISIS against the Yazidi community in Iraq in 2014. It plays a vital role in collecting evidence and firsthand testimonies from survivors to record the violations committed. These efforts are essential for highlighting the scale of the crimes at the international level and for generating global public opinion that advocates for justice. National and international non-governmental organizations, alongside United Nations agencies, have played a significant role in documenting these atrocities—particularly those targeting Yazidi women and girls—while also providing psychological and humanitarian support to victims. Moreover, these documentation efforts have supported national and international judicial proceedings, including those before the International Criminal Court, in holding perpetrators accountable and taking concrete steps toward achieving justice. The research is divided into two main sections: • Section One: The role of non-governmental organizations in documenting the violations committed by ISIS against the Yazidi community. • Section Two: The efforts of the International Criminal Court and national courts to prosecute those responsible for the genocide against the Yazidis.
