Abstract
Since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Iran has placed great importance on building a strong and integrated economy, one that draws its characteristics from Iran's Islamic identity and plays a role both domestically and internationally. This is within the framework of Iran's vast natural resources and potential, which have enabled it to diversify its sources of economic income beyond the gas and oil sectors. However, the Iranian economy has suffered greatly due to the economic sanctions imposed by the United States and European countries. This research paper, therefore, discusses the historical context of these sanctions, their causes and motivations, and their impact on political stability in Iran.. This research is based on the premise that US sanctions on Iran have had a clear impact on the economic, social, and political levels, and that their aim is to compel Iran to comply with UN Security Council resolutions. The research employs both a systematic analytical approach and a descriptive approach, as these are best suited to the research topic. The research is structured into an introduction, two main sections, a conclusion, and a summary. The first section examines the roots and historical context of the economic sanctions on Iran, while the second section explores the reasons and motivations behind these sanctions.
