| Abstract | ||
| One of the most important causes of environmental pollution is the excessive use of pesticides. The current study was designed to assess the ability of CO- Q10 to prevent hypothyroidism in male rabbits exposed to CPF. 24 male adult rabbits were used and divided equally into four groups: group one as negative control given corn oil only;group two (positive control ) rabbits were given CPF in dosage of 33.3 mg/kg, three group treated with low dose of CO- Q10 100mg/kg plus CPF 33.3 mg/kg, four group was given high dose of CO- Q10 200mg/kg plus CPF 33.3 mg/kg, all doses were given orally for28 days.Results revealed that oral administration of CPF cause to pronounced elevation value of MDA, and significantlyelevation in TSH level concomitantly with remarkable reduction in the levels of thyroid hormones, in addition, CPF exposure cause to marked biochemical alterations represented that significantly increased in hepatic enzymes values and noticeable elevation in lipid profile along with diminished in the value of high density lipoprotein, in contrast , oral administration of CO- Q10 resulted in improvement of thyroid gland function, MDA,lipid profile and liver biomarkers in two dosages, but CO- Q10 has superior effect with high dose. The histopathological changes were moderate restoration in rabbits treated with 100mg/kg dose while marked restoration was seen in rabbits treated with 200mg/kg dose. | ||
