Abstract
A study was conducted on Euphrates river water within a limits of Thi-Qar governorate to know the ecological limitations of this water at three locations were : Al Batha ; Nasirryia and Soq Al -Shiyokh stations signed (E17 , E18 and E 19) successively for one year from the beginning of January to the end of December 2009 . The study was whipped specification of total dissolved solid (TDS) , electrical conductivity ( EC ) µs / cm , total hardness ( TH ) , the concentrations of positive ( Ca ++ and Mg ++ ) and negative ( Cl ¯ , SO4 = , NO3 = , PO4 ≡ ) ions and oils which were estimated by ( mg / l ) .
The results of the study showed an increase on the concentration of total dissolved solid , electrical conductivity and total hardness , also it was found an increase on the concentrations of positive (Ca++ and Mg++ ) and negative ( Cl - , SO4= , NO3 = and PO4 ≡ ) ions and oil . From the results of the statistical analysis , it was found a significant differences on the concentrations between months of the year and the studied locations too . The present study was demonstrated the Euphrates river water distinguished by hardness , alkalinity and high salinity and characterized by un suitability for drinking , humanity and animal uses and for irrigated agriculture regions . |
