| Diabetic foot lesions are common medical problems with major socio-economic impact. A studywas done on 33 patients with diabetic foot at Tikrit general hospital in between December 2000 toAugust 2001 to study the presentation of diabetic foot and assess factors which may influenceprognosis adversely. The presentation of diabetic foot it was classified according to Wagnergrading system. This study showed that most patients presented with grading sequence (2, 3, 4,5).The most common site of ulceration affected in diabetic foot was the head of first metatarsal.The conservative management was successful in about 81% in grade I and ,70% in grade 2and ,24% in grade II. Factors which had no significant effect on failure of conservative treat: Age,Sex, Duration of diabetes, Mode of treatment of diabetes, Neuropathy, Level of blood glucose andHb at presentation While factors which had significant adverse effect on the failure ofconservativetreatment;were:Hypertension,Smoking,Infection,Osteomylitis. |
