| The cardinal feature of the dissociative disorders is an acute or gradual , transient or persistent, disruption of consciousness, perception, memory or awareness, not associated with physical disease or organic brain dysfunction. The aim of the study is to determine the sociodemographic and the prevalence of childhood trauma. The study included 60 patients,40 females and 20 males , the age range between 16 and 45 years. All the patients who were diagnosed as having a dissociative disorders, Were interviewed with semistrctured schedule, gathering information included eight items about sex, age, marital state ,occupation, education ,residence, psychogenic precipitant and childhood trauma. The majority of patients were young , under the age of 30 years, of which 17 (85%) were males and 25 (62.5%) were females.70% of male patients with dissociative disorder were single, while 60% of female patients were married. 85% of patients with dissociative disorders had history of childhood trauma. psychological precipitating factors such as intolerable stressful factors and disturbed relationships were associated with 70% of the cases. The present study conclude that majority of patients with dissociative disorders were young <30 years, had psychological precipitating factors and they had expressed to childhood trauma |
