| Abstract | ||
| The effect of aqueous extracts from leaves of Mytrus comminis(Mytraceae) and seeds of Peganum harmala (Zygophyllacea) were studied against the in vitro activity and growth of both Promastigote and axenic a mastigote stages of Leishmania donovani which was isolated from Iraqi patient infected with visceral leishmaniasis. The results of the study showed variation between the effect of the aqueous extract of these two plants on the inhibiting activity of the growth of this parasite in both promastigote and axenic amastigote stages. The values of the median effective dose (ED50) had shown that the promastigotes are more resistance to high concertrations of plant extract, while the axenic amastigote were more sensitive to the lower concentrations of the plant extract mentioned above and this was provided by the statistical analysis that showed significant differences at (P < 0.01) between Promastigote and axenic amastigote for the different strains and different plant extracts. | ||
