| Abstract | ||
| Internationally explosive devices directed against both civilian and military targets are frequently used in war. Military incendiary devices such as land mines and hand grenades contaminate the sites of abandoned battle fields. Such devices cause significant numbers of civilian casualties every year and even decades after local hostilities cease. The aim of this study is to investigate the casualities of the Iraqi war 2003 at AL- yarmuok teaching hospital. Data were collected in the emergency department at AL-Yarmouk teaching hospital from 19 March 2003 to 7 of April 2003.All patients were presented to emergency department were registered for age, sex, and type of injury. 1256 of these patients were admitted to the wards for management, those patient who is admitted were involved in our study. Most of our victims were males (951), while females were 305 victims. The numbers of civilian victims were 888 while the military victims were 368.
