| Diab~te~ Melli1us i~ considered as a member of oxidative strcs~ syndrome. It isassociated with an imbalance bttween types of free radiculs and scavenger's system.This ~llld)• showed tlte effect of the polyphenol compounds extracted from green tea(Camellia Sine sis L.) on alloxan induced diabetic rabbits to deremrinc d1eir role intreatment of diabetes mellitus, their effcet on enzymatic antioxidant and to know thehistological effects on the diabetic kidoe:y. The rabbits group was divided inlu fourgroups, each group oonsist of 7 rabbits. The first group W'dS healthy rabbits (normalgroup) as compared With second group .TIIC second group diabetic without treatmentas control group with the last three groups. The lhinl group diabetic treated ~~extract u[ green tea IOOmg!kg of body wei ght~ a single daily dose. The fourth groupdiabetic treated with extract or green tea 200mglldose. Alter treatment for twenty week bluud and tissue sample.., were taken foranalysis and the result were as follow : There was n significant d.:crease in GSTS.'hen polyphenol extract of green tea was used with dose rate I OOmg /kg nf bodyweight (fourth group) gave a ~ignificant inc.rease (p<0.05 ) in all parameters ascompared with diabetic group (without treatment ). TI1e pre.sent results revealed thatalloxan wus effeCtively induced diabe1es by partial desU'Uetion of b-cells of pancte;i,which lead to elevation of blood glucose level. As a consequence of hyperglycemiathe abnormal effect was obvious in certain tissues in the body which utlributed to theeffect of diabetes .Histological investigations shows thai all d1e lesions in the kidney!hat result from diabetes such as hypertrophy. degeneration and hylanosis of lteglomeruli. | ||
